Twilight Mississippi River Cruise

October 17, 2017 @ 12:00 am - October 19, 2017 @ 12:00 am

$485.00 – $595.00

This is the river cruise everyone is talking about. We hosted this trip in the past and everyone had such a great time we are not only hosting the October cruise again. This is one of the Captain’s favorite times of the year on the river. Join us on a 166 mile journey on the Mighty Mississippi. This adventure will take us through the Heartland of America where fur traders and lead miners once called home. Witness huge flocks of pelicans, islands of cormorants, Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets and the ever present majestic Bald Eagle. As we travel upstream the river unfolds into many different forms, from shallow marshes teaming with wildlife to the palisades and high cliffs as we approach lead mining country. In addition to the beautiful scenery and wonderful food at meal times, the tour will provide lots of activities to make your trip interesting and enjoyable. The Captain will point out sights along the way and explain the procedure of “locking through” as we pass through Lock and Dam No.’s 12 & 13. You will even be invited to visit the pilot house to see the river the way Mark Twain did as a pilot.
The great upper Mississippi Valley can only be experienced by boat. Fly-over’s won’t do. There are few roads along the shore and small boats are too limited in range or too low in the water to appreciate the true majesty of the many islands, marshlands and palisades along the Upper Mississippi River. If you haven’t seen the river from the riverboat Twilight, you haven’t seen it.
A two day cruise on the Riverboat Twilight is a FIRST CLASS adventure. Once on board the staff takes care of everything. There are three decks with comfortable climate-controlled dining salons and three sundecks with lounge chairs for those who wish to take in the sights or just snooze in the sun. For two days you will be served a bounty of freshly prepared meals, plated on china and served at tables especially for our group. You will be captivated by the delightful entertainment that is offered each afternoon and educated throughout the day by the Captain’s narration as he steers through the many bends and turns of the upper Mississippi River.
Our round trip journey begins at the charming little river town of LeClaire, IA, situated along the beautiful bend of the upper Mississippi River. The town’s main street is lined with trendy shops, restaurants and showcases the home store of the History Channel’s American Pickers. The Twilight docks for the evening at River’s Edge Plaza at the Port of Dubuque – Iowa’s oldest city – where you will stay for the evening at the GRAND HARBOR RESORT.
Our all-inclusive rate includes luxury motor coach ground transportation, three meals each day, overnight accommodations, shuttle stops at Cable Car Shopping Area, Fenelon Place Elevator, Diamond Jo Casino, entry fee to the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium and a stop at St.Luke’s United Methodist Church, noted for their collection of Tiffany Stained Glass windows.
