For many years we have hosted tours to Memphis TN. And everyone always had a great time. By popular request this year we are going to expand and include all the fascination and attractions of Nashville.Itinerary
Day 1. Thursday Oct. 17, 2019
8:00 AM – Depart Cedar Rapids Sam’s Club for Nashville TN. Enroute Pick up locations available.
11:00 AM – Lunch Fiddlesticks Restaurant Hannibal Mo. on your own.
12:00 PM – Depart Lunch Location

3:00 PM – Depart Rest stop
5:00 PM – Dinner location TBD on your own.

In the museum’s core exhibition, Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music, visitors are immersed in the history and sounds of country music, its origins and traditions, and the stories and voices of many of its honored architects. The story is revealed through artifacts, photographs, and text panels, with a rich overlay of recorded sound, vintage video, and interactive touchscreens.

10:15 AM The first group should meet for the 10:30 tour of Hatch Printing. Following their tour the second group will visit the Country Music Hall of Fame.
12:00 PM Depart for lunch at the Wild Horse Saloon.

2:30 PM Depart for Franklin, TN.
Located just south of Nashville, it is a key site of the American Civil War. A stop will be made at the 1858 Lotz House. It is in the heart of downtown Franklin at “ground zero” for the Battle of Franklin, which was a pivotal battle in the Civil War. The house was built in 1858 by German immigrant Johann Albert Lotz. By trade, Mr. Lotz was a master carpenter and a piano maker. His home served as his “show house” to demonstrate his carpentry work to potential clients interested in hiring him for his services.
Downtown’s Main Street is lined with galleries, antique shops and restored Victorian buildings. Numerous restaurants make it the perfect place for you to enjoy dinner on your own before departing for the Grand Old Opry.

What began as a simple radio broadcast in 1925 is today a live entertainment phenomenon dedicated to honoring country music’s rich history and dynamic present. The Grand Ole Opry showcases a mix of country legends and the contemporary chart-toppers who have followed in their footsteps. The Opry – an American icon and Nashville, Tennessee’s number-one attraction – is world famous for creating one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences for audiences of all ages.

9:15 AM Depart for a tour of Nashville and all her Major Attractions. Visit Downtown Music City and discover Riverfront Park, 2nd Ave & Honky Tonk Row, Ryman Auditorium, Music City Center, Printers Alley, Bridgestone Arena, Avenue of the Arts, the Arcade & more. View the State Capitol and Legislative Plaza, & Farmers Market. Drive by German Town & New Ball Park. Visit Bicentennial Park, Centennial Park & the Parthenon. Stop at Marathon Village and choose between:

3:00 PM The Music of Nashville® timelessly takes you on an action-packed ride through 60 years of Nashville’s most memorable songs, and the stories behind them. This exciting show includes many of the biggest songs born in Nashville. From the famous Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Conway & Loretta and Johnny & June to King George Strait, Garth Brooks, Crystal Gayle, Travis Tritt, Wynona Judd, Brooks & Dunn, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and more – the series of dynamic performances will entertain and engage audiences of all ages, creating a new appreciation for the historical importance of Nashville to the world of music.
5:45 PM Arrive Ray Stevens CabaRay Showroom.
Ever since closing his successful Branson theatre in 2006, Ray has dreamed of building a Vegas-style Showroom in Nashville reminiscent of favorite venues he worked in his early career. He wanted to create an intimate setting where fans could enjoy a nice dinner and cocktails while up close and personal with their favorite artists. When visiting the CabaRay, patrons will immediately experience Ray’s attention to every detail, from the impressive custom lighting piece in the lobby, to the built-in trophy cases displaying memorabilia from Ray’s iconic career, to the elegant crystal chandeliers, Ray’s personal touch is evident in every corner of the building. The Showroom walls are covered in vintage black and white photographs honoring the producers and musicians who turned Nashville into “Music City”. Ray also designed six custom red leather corner banquettes each honoring legendary Nashville producers who were impactful in Ray’s career – Chet Atkins, Owen Bradley, Shelby Singleton, Fred Foster, Jerry Kennedy and Billy Sherrill. DAY 4: Sunday, October 20, 2019

It includes a breakfast sandwich, fruit and drink. Following breakfast, take some time to explore the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Included in your package is The Delta Riverboat Tour. This tour takes you on a gentle ride around the Atrium’s four and half acres of gardens and waterfalls. The tour guide provides information about the hotel and points out some interesting features within the gardens.

11:00 AM  Depart for the lunch on the General Jackson Showboat. On Sundays in Nashville, you can experience a real Southern Homecoming on the General Jackson Showboat! Their dynamic and heartwarming stage show celebrates the songs and stories inspired by family, friends, faith and the American Flag. This energetic production showcases some of country music’s positive and inspirational chart-topping songs by artists like Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, and Tim McGraw. You’ll hear amazing and authentic vocal harmonies on some gospel music’s most beloved songs and it all concludes with a musical tribute to the American Flag. Supported by decadent stage lights, dapper costumes and dazzling multimedia, their quartet of Nashville’s finest voices supported by a live piano trio welcome you to a Southern Homecoming aboard the General Jackson Showboat!

Peabody history dates back to 1869 when the original Peabody Hotel opened on the corner of Main & Monroe and immediately became the social and business hub of Memphis. In 1925 a newer, grander Peabody was built at its present location at Union and 2nd Street continuing the legacy of the “South’s Grand Hotel.” It was 1933 when ducks were originally placed in the hotel’s lobby fountain, setting in motion an 85-year tradition that continues today with the March of the Peabody Ducks. The Peabody name has become synonymous with the 5 North American mallard ducks that are now the living symbol of the Peabody brand.

There are a number of tour options available at Graceland. Upon arrival we will negotiate a tour operators price for the tour our group selects. The most popular is the House, Grounds, Automobiles, and Aircraft. This tour along with lunch on the grounds will be on your own. AN ALTERNATIVE TO “GRACELAND” IS “THE MEMPHIS ZOO”. The Memphis Zoo is one of the most famous in the world with a number of unique displays including a very rare PANDA display. We have had a number of guests who have previously toured Graceland select the Zoo option. After arranging the Graceland Tour we will proceed to the Memphis Zoo with an arrival time of approx.. 11:00 AM
